What the Prince's Trust is

The Prince's Trust is a UK charity that helps young people overcome barriers and get their lives on track with work. Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance, it helps 14-30 year olds realise their potential and transform their lives. It focuses on people who've struggled at school, been in care, been in trouble with the law, or are long-term unemployed.

Who is eligible for the Business Programme?

The Business Programme is for people who are aged 18 - 30, and who are unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week. It's offered to those who live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. If you're in Scotland and are 18-25, you can get business start-up support through The Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT). For more information, visit their website.

What support is available?

The Prince's Trust provides practical and financial support to help get new businesses started. This includes a low interest loan of up to £4,000 (up to £5,000 for partnerships), ongoing advice from a business mentor and access to a wide range of products and services. Subject to local availability, it may in special circumstances also include a grant of up to £1,500 and a test marketing grant of up to £250.
