How I retain staff despite being a seasonal business

The challenge

We employ a permanent staff of 25 and a seasonal staff of 35. Our challenge revolves around retaining the seasonal staff, and ensuring that they return to us during our busy periods each year.

The solution

We solve this challenge by providing relatively high remuneration, performance-related bonuses, a continuous improvement strategy involving staff at all levels and a holistic approach to  employee care.

The holistic approach includes internal and external training of choice, focus on external team-building, choice of uniforms, staff loan schemes and community projects.

Key Lesson

Give every staff member the same customer care you would give your top client.

We deal with very wealthy, high-achieving clients, whose property value ranges from £450,000 to £6m. We know that happy staff means happy clients, and happy clients in turn brings more clients.

Top tip

Support your staff in every single way possible.
