Dame Mary Perkins, Specsavers (part two)

In this, the second part of the Smarta video interview with Specsavers founder Dame Mary Perkins, she talks international expansion, working with family and why she's never going to retire.

Specsavers has always been a family business. Dame Mary and her husband co-founded Specsavers in 1984 and they both now work alongside their two children. But she stresses that the Junior Perkins had to start from the bottom and work their way up.

Is it ever a challenge? They are invaluable to me as a sound board, says Dame Mary. When it's time for me to retire, when I'm no longer good for the business, they'll be the ones who let me know.

For now, however, Dame Mary is still going great guns. Find out about her clever international expansion strategy and how she landed on the iconic 'Should have gone to Specsavers' ad campaign.
