Ed Baker, Wordia

The Wordia founder on why a desire to expand his own vocabulary gave him the idea for a business idea, securing finance from one of the web's biggest entrepreneurs, and the importance of choosing the right programming language.

Ed Baker was previously in TV, working as a development producer. He founded Wordia in 2008 with founder of Bebo Michael Birch on-board as an investor. Wordia is an online visual dictionary created by users, who submit videos of themselves defining words in terms of what those words mean to them.

In this video interview Ed Baker speaks of how a business pitch in a pub and a flight to California secured an investment from on of the web's most successful entrepreneurs. Baker also refers to the problems of business valuation by email and the various stages of brand exploration needed for starting up his idea.
