John Mortimer co-founded the Angela Mortimer Group with his wife in 1976 with the aim of it being a small scale quality recruitment consultancy. The pair have since grown the company to acquire 16 businesses all over the UK, as well as in Europe. Every year the company places over 2500 candidates in permanent roles, specialising in office roles.
In this video interview John Mortimer gives his view on business partnership and arguments that can make or break that partnership. Having acquired many businesses in the past, John is able to offer expert advice on the process and why it might not necessarily be the best way to expand. He talks about the invisible expenses of acquiring businesses but also how the best investment is gaining a good additional team.
The successful entrepreneur speaks of the importance of having a good working environment and his method of staff motivation. Transparency is another topic he touches on, saying it is an essential ingredient for any successful business. This interview provides a good example of unintentional growth and the processes involved in expanding a business.
