Sahar Hashemi gave up her job as a lawyer to start the UK's
first coffee chain, Coffee Republic, with her brother Bobby in
1995. Since leaving the day to day running of the business in 2001,
Sahar has written a book, 'Anyone can do it', as well as starting
another business, Skinny Candy, which launched a joint venture with
confectionary giant Glisten Plc in 2007.
In this video interview Sahar Hashemi gives her view on why she
thinks "anyone can do it", and what skills she thinks an
entrepreneur needs. She tells us about her marketing strategy and
how personal branding and word of mouth is the best cost saving PR.
She also gives tips on how to create a business plan.
She also gives expert advice on quality control and how as an
entrepreneur you are using your product as a customer, giving you
the consumer experience first hand. She also speaks of going into
business with a family member and the advantages that brought and
whether she regrets selling Coffee Republic. Sahar also relates to
the mentoring and business advice she got from her joint venture
with Glisten Plc.
