Sophi Tranchell, Divine Chocolate

When Sophi Tranchell joined Divine Chocolate in 1999 she had no prior experience of the retail sector or of the food market. She'd overseen independent film distributor Metro Tartan when she reposnded to a job avdert for the post of managing director of a Fairtrade chocolate brand.

What's unique about Divine is that farmers from the Kuapa Kokoo co-operative in Ghana own 45% of the company and sit on the board.

In this video interview Tranchell talks about the importance of working with good partners, putting the farmers into the picture, getting stocked in the supermarkets as a small brand and why social enterprise is more important than ever before.

Today she oversees a growing company with a multi-million pound turnover and a presence in the UK and abroad.

But as a social enterprise that goes above and beyond what's required by Fairtrade standards, Divine Chocolate is about much more than making money. As Tranchell explains in the interview, "Divine is about changing lives forever."
