Stuart Arnott, Mindings

Stuart Arnott, founder of Mindings, on coming up with a great idea, the challenges of getting a product off the ground and the importance of taking advice.

With a background in multimedia production, it was natural for Stuart Arnott to look to technology when he wanted to solve a problem.

In this video he tells how living far from his family inspired him to come up with an idea, which could help improve communication with relatives. His invention, an adapted digital photo frame, makes it easy for him to send pictures, text messages and calendar reminders to his father who lives hundreds of miles away.

Last year Mindings emerged as one of the winners of the Cambridge Wireless Discovering start-up event alongside four other tech start-ups. In this entrepreneur video Arnott speaks about the breakthrough moment when he realised the product could work and the challenges of getting a brand new product off the ground.

He speaks about the importance of taking advice from both seasoned business people and potential customers and about the responsibility he feels to get the product just right.
