Tim Smit is the CEO of the Eden Project in Cornwall, which is a project aimed at educating people on environmental matters. Before becoming a conservationist, Smit was a record producer and had moderate success in Europe. Tim Smit has won several awards for his work including the CBE in the 2002 New Years Honours List and an honorary Doctor of Design degree by the University of West England. He is also outspoken about matters such as social enterprise and entrepreneurship and is a critic of the British attitude toward entrepreneurs. In 2001 Smit was made a Social Enterprise Ambassador, led by the Social Enterprise Coalition.
