One of Smarta’s most popular articles to date has been this feature on how to cheat your way to the top on Google – and it was no surprise to us, because for most sites, 80% of website traffic comes from search engines – so getting your search engine optimisation (SEO) right is important.
While getting your keyword density and linkbacks are essential if you want your website to get to the top of search rankings, people often tend to overlook the speed factor. According to Google, a 0.5% delay in the page load speed of your website will reduce traffic by 20%.
So Smarta was very interested when it heard about a competition launched by hosting provider UKFast, which is looking for brand new tech businesses to showcase its very speedy ‘SEO Server’.
Called the SEO Server Challenge, the competition will pick 10 brand new businesses and give them £15,000 worth of funding and support to turn them into the next big online business success.
The company’s managing director, Lawrence Jones, said: “To succeed in business you need to get your brand first in the queue for your customers’ attention. Speed is the most important factor to achieve this online.”
The year-long competition will kick off once the finalists are chosen in September. If you’d like to be in with a chance, fill in the application form before August 31.
