0-5 seconds: Sum your business up in a sentence
It's a bit daring, a bit naughty, very rewarding, and it makes my clients feel amazing.
5-10 seconds: What's the business model?
The business is based around understanding what women want. It's important for clients to feel good about themselves and to focus on the positive aspects of their bodies, especially as they get older. I take photographs that tick all these boxes.
10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?
My closest competitor is Mimi Photography.
15-20 seconds: What's your USP?
Customisation. I offer a free consultation before every shoot and tailor each one to the individual client's needs. It's essential for women to feel confident about what the shoot entails and to come away feeling fantastic. We want each client to take home stunning images of themselves and a positive attitude towards their bodies.
I think the fact we have an all-female photography team is also really important for clients.
20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?
Through my wedding and corporate photography business Andrea Palmer Photography and my part-time job working in a supermarket.
25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?
Raising my two children, studying photography at university and working part-time.
30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?
I'd always loved photography but I wanted to do something different which would have a positive impact on people's lives. Lots of women have body hang-ups and I decided I'd offer a service which would benefit both the woman and their partner.
35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?
Offering a free boudoir consultation and giving advice on lingerie, make-up, and style of boudoir shoot to suit the individual client. It really helps ensure a great result every time.
The Bridal Secrets package aimed specifically at brides-to-be has also been a real success. All contact is carried out in secret between myself and the client, that way the groom gets a unique and surprise wedding gift.
40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?
Wasting time and money on ineffective advertising.
45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?
A melt in your mouth whipped cream biscuit with raspberries.
50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?
Bondage tights - they really help make a woman's legs look longer and I'm sure they're going to be a massive seller, particularly with Cheryl Cole recently wearing them.
55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?
We're hoping to expand to a larger studio to accommodate additional photography requests.
