Well. As the Evening Standard pointed out yesterday, we all knew this was going to be the first digital election - but sex shop chain Ann Summers has found a novel way to get across its demands to the new government: paid search.
In an effort, perhaps, to encourage voters to take something cheekier than just the party manifestos into account, the company has bought up political keywords. Search ' Conservatives', for example, or ' Lib Dems', and you'll be greeted with a sponsored link proclaiming 'visit Ann Summers & find out why we believe in a well hung parliament' - along with a link to a page of discounted sex toys.
Ooo-err. The only thing we can't find is a sponsored ad for 'Labour'. Is this an indication they've lost faith in the Labour leadership - or are they merely making a comment on Gordon Brown's sex appeal?
