60-second start-up: Senkai

10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?

There are many personal training companies across London that would be seen as our competitors - however Senkai offers something different to most out there. We guarantee clients WILL achieve the results they are seeking - and it won't hang on one trainer's advice, but our team.

15-20 seconds: What's your USP?

Our USP is our unrivalled portfolio of real success stories. We get clients results - sustainable, life-changing results, not just for those that need to look good for their profession and can afford it, but for everyone. Also the Senkai Bodi retreat -  born, evolved and overseen by trainers with years of experience.

20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?

Currently Senkai is a self-funding limited company; we used our own money.  We have been offered investment by our clients, but at this point in time, we are getting closer to our goal without the need for outside investment.

25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?

Both Steve and I were managing our own successful freelance personal training client bases.

30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?

From our early years working at one of London's larger health clubs, we discussed business and the industry at length. Years later, having both left our original employer and both managing successful personal training client bases for our own companies, we decided that personal training industry in the capital needed to be freshened up a little. We were tired of seeing endless websites claiming to help clients achieve their health and fitness goals with little evidence to back it up. We also had a dream to build a brand within the industry that would become synonymous with superior service, success and quality training.

35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?

Go into business together and create the Senkai brand!

40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?

Like any ambitious directors of a new company we have done loads of stupid things since the business was formed 16 months ago. I couldn't possibly go into detail, but suffice to say we are better for the mistakes we made in the early days and Senkai will be stronger as a result.

45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?

50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?

My co-founder Steve's idea to get me to do this interview!

55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?

Hopefully on holiday, while Steve is in London managing the team and looking after London's best new training facility - The Senkai Bodi Unit!
