5-10 seconds: What's the business model?

Simple. We buy at wholesale price and sell at retail price. We attract customers as we're bringing clothes that aren't available in many stores. Anything made is invested straight back into the website in order to source more brands we can bring over to the UK market.

10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?

Other online men's Fashion stores such as Goodhood Store, Coggles and Oki-ni.

15-20 seconds: What's your USP?

Our aim is to bring together lesser-known brands from around the world and make them available to UK customers alongside some of the better known more established premium brands. For example in our first season trading we have managed to source some pieces from a fantastic Swedish brand called, Ljung. This label is not available anywhere else in the UK.

20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?

So far privately funded by all three founders. However, in the future we may seek further funding from an outside source.

25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?

A variety of things from art and web design to insurance!

30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?

A passion for clothing generally. We know what we like and we think we know what others will like.

35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?

It was probably visiting the trade shows before we launched. Walking around them we managed to pick up some great advice and get a taste of the industry.

40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?

We probably didn't launch at the perfect time. In hindsight we would have launched a month or two earlier or five months later.

45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?

A dark chocolate Hobnob - An all-time classic biscuit with a stylish twist, just like the shirts we sell.

50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?

Definitely Twitter. Such a simple idea and it works brilliantly. It's also a great way for start-ups like Men of Ilk to get our name out there. We're really trying to use social media as much as we can to market our business, which reminds me, we're @menofilk if you'd like to follow?

55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?

Hopefully trading with 2-3 times the stock and 2-3 times the brands we currently have. The tricky part will be ensuring the brands are right for us, as we're extremely fussy.
