0-5 seconds: Sum your business up in a sentence
Hiring-Hub.com is a free-to-use web-based platform built to take the pain out of recruitment for companies of all sizes.
5-10 seconds: What's the business model?
Hiring-Hub.com is a middle man. Our job board advertising bundles are aimed at those who wish to fill non-technical roles while our online recruitment marketplace acts as a gateway for employers looking to fill technical roles. It connects them to a large network of specialist recruitment consultancies.
10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?
There are a few websites offering flat fee job board advertising in the UK, and a couple of marketplaces. However, we have combined the two models to create a one-stop shop for online recruitment. That makes Hiring-Hub.com unique, and it means our users can manage all of their recruitment campaigns from one central hub. We also provide employers with free web-based software, like an Applicant Tracking System and Vendor Management Tool, and have invested heavily to ensure the backend functionality of our website is simple and intuitive.
15-20 seconds: What's your USP?
You can do everything quickly and easily from one centralised hub. That's our main USP. It costs nothing to register and nothing to upload a job onto the marketplace - users only pay (the fee they set) if a recruiter successfully fills their role, so it's a bit of a no brainer. The USP for the job board advertising bundles is simple: we post your job on every major job board in the UK for less than £200. Bargain.
20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?
We raised seed capital from an angel investor to fund the website's development. Recruitment in the UK is a £20bn industry, so provided we execute our business model correctly their initial funding should prove a shrewd investment.
25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?
Simon had his own copywriting, marketing and PR consultancy while Sara is a law graduate turned recruiter turned tech entrepreneur.
30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?
Traditional recruitment has been starved of innovation for years. The industry in the UK needs a web-based platform like Hiring-Hub.com. Currently, if you want car insurance you go to moneysupermarket.com, and if you want a hotel you might check out Late Rooms. By harnessing the Internet's power and reach in a similar way, we wanted to be the first place businesses visit for recruitment.
35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?
Building the website in a lean programming language that gives us the flexibility to develop the platform quickly, bolt on extra products and integrate with our clients' own software is perhaps the smartest thing we have done. We are extremely happy with the website's backend functionality and, beyond that, the ease and speed at which we can adapt to market forces, advances in technology and our user's demands.
40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?
To date we have been quite fortunate and, touch wood, we haven't done anything too daft.
45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?
That's a tricky one. We'd probably be an assortment of biscuits; one of those tins that your parents always have knocking around their house at Christmas.
50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?
Groupon. I mean, come on. Two years old and valued in the billions. Not bad growth, eh?
55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?
We hope to have over 1000 registered employers regularly using the platform in the UK. We are also in talks to license our brand and bespoke software overseas, so hopefully we will see Hiring-Hub.com launch on a couple of different continents.
