Ticket Tailor allows venues and promoters to sell tickets online without having to pay booking fees on ticket sales.

5-10 seconds: What's the business model?
Ticket Tailor is a subscription-based service with packages ranging from £6/month to £75/month depending on the number of events on sale.

10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?
Eventbrite, Ticketweb, Ticketmaster, See Tickets... There are hundreds of ticket agencies.

15-20 seconds: What's your USP?
We don't charge any booking fees. We allow the promoters to set booking fees if they wish and keep it for themselves.  A recent Which? survey of almost 3,500 members showed that only 9% think booking fees are a fair representation of the cost of the service.

20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?
We have been running a web development agency (Zimma.co.uk) for a few years. Zimma does bespoke web development work which brings in money. Ticket Tailor is already bringing in significant revenue and self-sufficiency is on the horizon.

25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?
We were doing a lot more bespoke web development work for clients through our agency Zimma.co.uk.

30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?
We had already built quite a few bespoke ticketing systems but this is very costly. It made sense to create a system that makes online ticketing easy and cost-effective for everyone. And it's crazy that booking fees are still the norm in 2011!

35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?
Move our web-hosting to Rackspace Cloud. Often online ticket systems are taken down with high demand. By being hosted on the "Cloud" we can instantly scale our servers up and down in tune with demand.

40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?
Wasting money on press release distribution and hoping for a good response. We'll never do that again.

45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?
Jammy Dodger.  Nice on the face of it but event better when you get to the middle.

50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?
Threadless.com. I'm a big fan of t-shirts.

55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?
Who knows? Ticket Tailor appeals to more industries than we anticipated so perhaps some industry specific variations. We have some very exciting tools in the pipeline too but that's a secret.
