While hundreds of thousands of visitors are descending
on the UK for Olympic celebrations, StartUp Britain is hosting an
event to show businesses how to take advantage of the Games through
international trade.
TradeUp, a one-day-only event taking place on 6 August at 1:30pm
at City Hall, will provide UK businesses with advice
on how to unlock the growing opportunities to trade overseas
through speeches and panel discussion from a range of experts on
export.
"The UK exports £257bn worth of goods a year, with services to
go on top of that figure. There has never been a better opportunity
to take your business overseas. With the technology we now
have at our fingertips, you can start a business and be trading
with the world within days," says Emma Jones, StartUp Britain
co-founder. "We hope this free event will demystify trading
overseas and help to open up the world to British business while
the rest of the world comes to us!"
Kit Malthouse, the deputy mayor of London, will kick off the
event, which will also feature John Varco, head of business
development at PayPal; Iris Cai, Chinese trade expert and BBC Radio
5 Mandarin teacher; Gabriela Castro-Fontura, director of Sunny Sky
Solutions; and Emma Jones. The event will be closed by
Rajeeb Dey, the founder of Enternships.
StartUp Britain is a government backed campaign founded by eight
entrepreneurs to inspire, accelerate and celebrate
entrepreneurship.
