As we continue the countdown to this year's Smarta 100
we have caught up with former winners. Here Camille Johnson from
Pink Ribbon Lingerie explains how she enjoyed taking part in the
process last year.
What stage was your business at when you won Smarta 100
Pink Ribbon Lingerie had been trading for just
under a year via mail order and nine months online.
Why did you enter the awards?
I decided to enter the Smarta 100 awards to the help raise the
profile of Pink Ribbon Lingerie. I had taken part in a Smarta
interview, which was posted when we launched online and we received
10% of our traffic directly from the Smarta website in our first
month of trading, so I could only see the benefits of getting

Asking for votes is not really my thing, but it turned out to be
quite a lot of fun. We made loads of great new contacts and through

We still get hits on our website; we have grown our network of
contacts and still keep in touch with quite a few other

We have won a Precious online Hidden Gem Award at the end of
2012, we have taken on a member of staff and sales continue to
What is your top tip for any company thinking of
entering Smarta 100 this year?
I have told a few people to apply so I hope they make it -
fingers crossed! I would suggest that they be as creative as
possible to get votes, but also use the exposure to turn the votes
into customers, if they believe in the business to vote in you,
then they should also be willing to purchase from you.
