Sir Richard Needham, Dyson
Sir Richard Needham served as minister for Northern Ireland and Minister for Trade during the late 80s and early 90s. He now sits on the board of British business marvel, Dyson, for which he is independent director responsible for international and commercial affairs. Nick Roope, Plumen
Plumen designed and developed the world's first designer energy saving light bulb. It uses 80% less energy than traditional bulbs helping to keep down electricity bills and is kinder to the environment. Nick Roope is the brains behind this British built brand and has used its elegant design and practicality to win customers from all over the world, including Smarta. We named Plumen as a Smarta 100 winner in 2011. Nick will be on hand to share his experiences of creating and launching a global brand from here in the UK.
Will King, King of Shaves
Will King founded male grooming brand King of Shaves in 1993, taking on US shaving giants Gillette and Wilkinson Sword. Since then, the brand's holding company, KMI, has acquired personal grooming brands including Ted Baker and Fish. He has also launched an online cut prize razor subscription service offering customers three razor blades for £3 a month. Will has used used the Britisheness of King of Shaves to appeal to customers all over the world including the US, Australia and New Zealand. He managed to secure sponsorhip with British Olympic athlete, James Ellington during London 2012 and launched a viral video of a spoof Andy Murray and Roger Federer playing tennis during Wimbledon last year.
