SolderSplash create fun and useful electronic development kits, helping you make extraordinary things!

Why are you a smart business?

We have boot strapped our company while working full time, utilising free and open source tools to create products that can be used to learn/teach or create electronic products.

Also attending MakerFaires to show children how things work, like our robotic marble Labyrinth controlled via accelerometers. Sparking their interest in making things rather than just using them.

What’s the smartest thing you’ve done to help your business grow?

Talking to potential customers about what they are making or want to make, understanding where we can help. Looking at where our products can fit in versus existing solutions.

What smart things do you do for your customers

We are approachable and friendly. We want to support learning so no question is too stupid.

What smart technologies do you use to run your business?

We work from home a lot so utilise online accounting from Xero with a live bank feed. Document sharing with Google docs and Dropbox. Our website is powered by Wordpress with ecommerce plugins. Many of these services are free to start with so they’ve helped us keep costs down.

What’s your smartest tip for other entrepreneurs?

Have a dream and don’t give up. Review your goals regularly so that you can get closer to that dream. Tell everyone what you do, even if they might not be your target audience, you never know who’s listening!
