Passion and money: Small businesses tell us where their inspiration came from

Should you be inspired by passion or motivated by money when starting a business? Maybe it’s not about what you should do, but whether you can combine the two and have the determination to use your passion in the best way for your business. 

Three founders, all in different markets and with their own selling point, spoke to us about their brands and why they decided to start-up. Amelia Rope, whose luxury chocolates are available from the likes of Selfridges, said her drive and determination has been the key to her success but explained it's a tricky task defining passion.

Bag lover and founder of BagServant.co.uk and Saleservant.com, Lenka Gourdie, spoke about her passion for fashion and how it has developed her business. Liam Hughes founded mind map library and community Biggerplate.com after struggling with the academic side of university. Though Liam admitted he didn’t have a passion for the industry at first, his hard work and focus in other areas enabled him to put his business on the map.
