60 second start-up: Video My Business

0-5 seconds: Sum your business up in a sentence:

Video My Business is a new directory website putting UK businesses in touch with Video Producers quickly, easily and all for free.

5-10 seconds: What's the business model?

We bring businesses to our site, gaining our listed Video Producers leads and Enquiries. In return for this Video Producers pay us a monthly subscription fee.

10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?

Due to our niche we do not have any direct competitors. Of course there are other people doing similar things, however no one who is doing the same thing as us.

15-20 seconds: What's your USP?

We are the only directory specialising in putting UK businesses in touch with Video Producers

20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?

We have secured investments from private investors.

25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?

Originally at university studying photography, I decided it was not for me and dropped out to start Video My Business.

30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?

The idea came from my background in photography. With the idea originally orientated around photography, it was not until I spoke with my father and realised how he had found it very difficult to find video producers for his business.

It was at this point we both realised how quality video was very much missing from thousands of UK businesses, providing a perfect opportunity for us to show just how beneficial video can be for any business.

35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?

Launching our ‘Website of the Month’ competition! Our competition brings web designers back to our site on a regular basis and gets them to share their entries across their social media networks.

By sharing their entries to their customers, Video My Business reaches hundreds of thousands of potential business customers in seconds. It also makes web designers aware of Video My Business should they want to use it on behalf of their business clients.

40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?

Not doing the competition right from the beginning.

45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?

Probably a Digestive - solid, reliable and professional!

50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?

A recent start up called byStored has got my attention recently, a very simple and effective solution to a growing storage problem in London.

55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?

Hopefully we will have improved businesses around the UK and built a reliable, professional brand which is synonymous with UK business video.
