Combining a proprietary distribution channel with an analytics platform for brands, Gleam is the perfect way for the industry to keep up with consumers and know in real time how preferences are changing everywhere across markets, segments and with fashionistas everywhere.

5-10 seconds: What's the business model?

On the app side with affiliate revenue and advertising, and on the analytics platform side with SaaS. 

10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?

WGSN, EDITD or Nielsen. There are other players that offer data sets and analysis static in time, however there is currently no market offering that provides brands with real time analysis and data focusing on the global fashion mobile consumer, in both established and emerging digital economies, and with a dedicated distribution channel of 270,000 users and counting.

15-20 seconds: What's your USP?

Gleams Fashion Intelligence Platform builds on a highly segmented user community, enabling real time insights in how the fashion consumer interacts with content and products, creating a frame-work for fast (re)action and brand value growth. This combined with a great looking highly curated fashion discovery and inspiration app on the consumer side closes the gap between the industry and the consumer for the digital age 

20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?

We received a seed round from Faber Ventures and Portugal Ventures in July 2013.

25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?

One of us worked in strategic management consulting, with digital focus, and the other marketing and retail, so we complement each other in both strategic and operational aspects of running and growing the company.

30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?

It actually arose from a discussion around the question of  “what am I going to wear today?”, as there were mornings we could stare at our closet for minutes on end and not have a clue of what to wear.

35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?

As a startup team grows it’s hard to let go of the things you were responsible for when you were responsible for everything. You may be a perfectionist at heart, but empowering the team to deal with issues as they arise, and as they best see fit, is the most important thing we did to allow the project to grow. 

40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?

Worrying about every little detail and not keeping the big picture as we do now.

45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?

Macaroons! Plenty of colours for both your sweet tooth and fashion sense! 

50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?

Zara!

55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?

Gleam will be the player of reference in the space where global fashion inspiration meets shopping and change the way the fashion industry interacts with the global consumer in the mobile digital age.
