Compare The Uni is the number one university comparison website, aimed at helping students make the right decision about what and where to study!
5-10 seconds: What's the business model?
Importantly, our service is completely free for students! In relation to our business model, we focus on providing exceptional marketing and recruitment opportunities for universities in the UK.
10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?
Rather than competitors, we see others in our space as complimentary. As an example, Unistats offer a great statistics-driven approach to university comparison. We actually get a lot of our data from Unistats, which illustrates the complimentary outlook we have!
15-20 seconds: What's your USP?
Our USP is our innovative comparison tools. We have a unique head-to- head comparison tool that enables students to compare universities side-by-side with regard to tuition fees, employment stats, rankings and more! In addition, we have a great course search engine that enables students to search a database of over 30,000 courses!
20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?
Initially, we secured an angel investment that enabled us to start and launch Compare The Uni! Raising angel investment was a very important milestone for us and ultimately enabled us to progress at a quicker pace.
25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?
Before Compare The Uni I was studying for a law degree as well as backpacking around the world!
30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?
The idea for Compare The Uni came from personal experiences of going through the university application process. My business partner and I realised that the process of comparing universities was not only time-consuming but also difficult and that because of this, often students make the wrong decision.
35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?
Getting our target audience involved in the design and development process! It’s very important to build a product around users as opposed to the other way round!
40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?
Wasting money on Facebook advertising on a small budget! I was a victim of Zuckerberg.
45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?
A Kit Kat (yes it’s a biscuit)! Because we have a variety of flavours and are responsive to user feedback!
50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?
I’m jealous of Uber. Their product and international growth are very impressive, and they also have a great grip on customer service!
55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?
In 12 months time, we would have helped a whole new cohort of students find the right university and course!
