We do deals, free stuff and ways to make money quickly, brightening up all the boring bits of student finance & budgeting, all of which has made us the UK’s fastest growing student website.
Advertising, both direct and affiliate based.
The student market is, of course, crowded so we compete with any other student marketers - but we approach things a little differently from those around us: our aim is to do what’s best for students, rather than chasing revenue. We offer exclusive discounts, too.
Putting the user first – disappointingly, it’s rarer than you’d think. We have strict rules about what we will and won’t post and only put up things our audience want to see, rather than annoying them with irrelevant advertising.
We managed to get going with help from generous friends and family (thanks all!) and from there have kept going off our own steam.
Messing about at uni - no harm in being honest!
Sat at university, hard up and thinking there was nowhere out there which really helped students save any money – which we were all desperate to do. So the first Student Money Saver blog started, which just put tips out to help people manage their cash. Friends seemed to like it and we kept rolling from there.
Paying strict attention to our stats, which means we’ve grown quickly but steadily and always followed the ideas which worked, forgetting those which didn’t meet our expectations.
Having a work night out on a Wednesday once. We lost Thursday, and most of Friday too.
That or not launching soon enough.
A maple and bacon cookie: they’re unusual, unconventional but absolutely delicious and once you’ve had one, other biscuits just don’t hit the spot. We’d like to think that sums us up too.
Wouldn’t have minded coming up with Google.
Trusted and used by every UK student and still growing ambitiously.
