Run your business from the comfort of your own... train station

The Station Office Network will bring fully furbished offices to stations across the country, and it’s kicking off in London and Leeds. Catching a train from King’s Cross to Leeds? Now, the time you spend each side of the journey can be put towards working in the comfort of a proper office.

This joint venture between Network Rail and The Office Group follows a test of the project at Paddington station. The first three sites to be transformed will be King’s Cross, Leeds and Liverpool Street. Between them, these three workspaces will provide 50,000 sq ft of office space for entrepreneurs to take advantage of.

By this summer, the four flexible working stations will offer space for up to 1,100 travellers to keep on working while they wait to get on the move. The spaces will include offices, meeting rooms and open ClubRooms (all with the usual benefits of an airport business lounge), but will you be using any of them?

Stations are convenient destinations for shopping, dining and leisure and the success of our first site at Paddington has proved that they are equally as sought after for business." David Biggs, Network Rail’s managing director of property

Will you ever feel the need to sit down and get working at a train station? How often do you find yourself with time to spare at either end of your journey? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @SmartaHQ.

David Biggs, Network Rail’s managing director of property, said: "This innovative joint venture brings an additional facility to our busy stations by transforming underused space into productive work environments that meet the needs of time scarce business travellers. Stations are convenient destinations for shopping, dining and leisure and the success of our first site at Paddington has proved that they are equally as sought after for business."

You’ll be able to work in these offices on a pay-as-you-go basis or with a monthly subscription. Prices will vary between each office and aren’t available yet. More details are available at www.theofficegroup.co.uk.
