Matt Thomas, COO of Smarta

As COO at Smarta, Matt Thomas is overseeing all business activity and strategy alongside founder Shaa Wasmund. A business journo by trade, Matt was part of the founding team at Smarta having previously edited Startups.co.uk and a number of B2B trade titles. Matt’s authored two books, ‘Starting your own shop’ and ‘The smarta way to do business’. 

Kasey Clarke, founder of Kupkase

After honing a fine taste for gorgeous cakes since childhood Kasey decided it was time to unleash her passion for delicious, fabulous sweet treats and share her favourite 'kakes' with the world. She received £10,000 in business funding from Smarta, plus mentoring from an entrepreneur in her industry who has helped her to hit the goals she’s targeting. 

Sean Cannon, co-founder of The Meat Merchants

Sean Cannon founded British charcuterie company Cannon & Cannon in 2010 which now supplies many of the UK's top food businesses. The company is set to turn over £500K plus in it's third year of trading with a book and TV series in the making. Sean also co-founded The Meat Merchants in 2014 with business partner Danny Searle which is a range of meat based pub snacks aimed at the discerning beer drinker (the range is set to launch nationwide in late summer 2014).

Louise Chester, mentor and founder of Mindfulness at Work

A serial entrepreneur and angel investor, Louise has been practicing mindfulness since 1994 when she was a Director at UBS Ltd. Louise left the City in 2001 to establish a consultancy practice offering financial and strategic advice to business leaders both in the workplace and at Witherdens Hall, her award-winning, holistic Retreat in Kent. In 2010, she founded Mindfulness at Work Ltd.

Nikki Emmans, founder of Momono

After over a decade working in Advertising and Marketing, Nikki decided to combine her passions for fashion and marketing and founded Momono. Nikki's brand is a stylish new ladies footwear fashion label, offering a range of colourful sandals with a creative and unique twist to the popular 90’s jelly sandals. Receiving £7,000 in business funding plus mentoring from a Smarta entrepreneur, Momono launches with their first pop-up store in East London's Spitalfields mid July.
