Love the Sales helps consumers to shop the sales easily – no more trawling through site after site to find the best bargains. We crunch through over 2,000,000 products four times a day to bring all the sales to one site.

5-10 seconds: What's the business model?

We help consumers find bargains and help retailers sell the stock that’s end of line and left over. We earn commission from retailers through the sales we make.

10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?

We think of the big e-commerce sites as our competitors, not sites focussed on sales specifically and there are two reasons why. Firstly, we are a user centric team so we want to build an amazing e-commerce product that people enjoy using and that helps them to find what they want. Secondly, sites that focus on sales just don’t do things as well as we do – they either have a very limited number of products to choose from or they just link to the home page of a site that has a sale. Neither of those methods help consumers very much.

15-20 seconds: What's your USP?

That consumers can come along and browse thousands of sale items in one place. And on top of that, they can search the sales based on their size, follow brands they like, get alerted to items on sale and register for a bespoke feed of products relevant to them.

20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?

So far we are entirely bootstrapped, but we have got some strong interest from a few angels and a couple of VC organisations.

25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?

We are still doing it! We have done everything for Love the Sales in our spare time – that’s something that always surprises people as we have such a strong product offering. We have four people in the team whose skills are a great mix of what we need. I’m a marketer and we have a back end guy, a front end guy and a product specialist.

30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?

I was a young dad (I’m 37 now and have an 18 year old so you do the math!). I was forever looking for ways to save money and sales were an obvious bonus – after years of trawling websites and shopping malls I realised there was a much better way to do things!

35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?

I think the most notable things are building a retailer base of around 450 big names and building a platform that automatically crunches nigh on 10,000,000 products a day and filters out sales items and shows them on the site

40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?

Not doing this 10 years ago! 

45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?

Probably something like a Hob-Nob – everyone likes them and you always want to go back for another.

50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?

Google!

55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?

In 12 months time we will have been invested in and we will be handling a million visits a month. We’ll be in our own office and probably have around 9 or 10 staff.
