Flashgap is a time-delayed photo sharing app inspired by The Hangover.

5-10 seconds: What's the business model?

The app allows friends to create a shared photo album at an event or night out, with images collated from all members of a pre-selected group. However, the images and videos taken throughout night via the app disappear instantly, only to be revealed the day after, at noon precisely, allowing the group to discover the night before from new perspective once memories have become hazy.

10-15 seconds: Who are your competitors?

The concept of Flashgap is unique on the market for now, but many competitors already exist, such as Crossroad, Eversnap, Venteo

15-20 seconds: What's your USP?

We differ from other apps like this because of the surprise element of discovering every picture and video the next day at twelve o’clock sharp.

20-25 seconds: How have you funded it so far?

We recently completed a successful round of seed investment with European private investors (March 2015).

25-30 seconds: What were you doing before?

I was at University in France!

30-35 seconds: Where did the idea come from?

We used to take GoPros on our nights out at University and always enjoyed watching the footage back the next day. The emotion of the discovery the next day of all the photos was so fun we had to scale it in an app. Also I was inspired by the ending credits of The Hangover

35-40 seconds: What's the smartest thing you've done so far?

Probably introducing Flashgap in the UK market. Flashgap has users in 105 countries and the UK students are the most active community in the world. They are the ones who take the most photos each month. Probably because they party more than in any other country!

40-45 seconds: What's the stupidest?

I placed far too much importance on my University degree in business and finance – I thought it would be all I’d need in business but in fact it’s quite the opposite. I shouldn’t have believed that building a start-up is similar to building a regular company, which it’s not. It’s all about differentiating yourself from everybody else, which I was stupid not to realise earlier.

45-50 seconds: If your business was a biscuit, what would it be?

Probably a “Millefeuille” - a French biscuit with many layers. Every layer has a particularity and as a whole the biscuit is delicious. The layers would represent members of the Flashgap team working together to make a great start-up.

50-55 seconds: Which idea are you a bit jealous of?

Uber (like many other entrepreneurs, I’m sure!). I love the recent addition of music playlists available to customers.

55-60 seconds: Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?

Still growing Flashgap! We recently launched in the UK and want to take the app to as many different countries as possible in the next 12 months.
