Ever thought about using a potato to shelter you from the rain? Nope, neither had we - but the people at Comp Bio Products are clearly more forward-thinking, because they have produced a range of bags, liners, tableware and even a rain coat made of potato starch. The 'Spud Coat' isn't merely biodegradable, though: the organic matter it converts to at the end of its life actually encourages the growth of plans - and to emphasise this, it comes with a ball of seeds so the coat can be 'planted' at the end of its life. Unsurprisingly, the Spud Coat has attracted attention from Glastonbury Festival, which is in talks with the company at the moment.
