Crunch
Crunch bills itself as 'the Apple of the accounting world' -
making accounting easier and more fun. It combines simple-to-use
accounting software with telephone access to accountants and the
personalised touch of an account manager. Backed by former Skype
chairman Michael van-Swaaij and Bebo co-founder Paul Birch [Michael
Birch abstained from voting on Crunch's Smarta 100 entry], Crunch
launched in 2009 and has a 1,500 strong customer base paying £59.50
a month. It's targeting 10,000 subscribers by 2014. Fell appears on
a personal mission to banish the image of the stuffy, grey
accountant, appearing on Chris Evans' BBC Radio 2 drive-time show
and releasing a Tetris-style iPhone game.
