Little Kickers
Little Kickers was the first company in the UK to spot the niche
for pre-school football classes. Based on a franchise model, the
firm has kept fees to a minimum to allow a wide pool of possible
franchisees from all walks of life, encouraging many stay-at-home
mums join the business. It was this pool of dedicated working
mothers that took the business international: Little Kickers now
operates in North America, Australia and New Zealand. However, the
typical franchisee has changed since the company formed in 2002,
with a number of graduates joining the ranks. There's innovation
aplenty in this sprightly venture: franchises are rolling out in
non-English speaking countries, adding a language teaching element
to the course. Little Rugby launched last year in response to
consumer demand and the firm is currently piloting Little Dance
Flavourz, a mixture of dance and early learning, which will go live
in 2013.
