Naked Wines
Robert Louis Stevenson called wine 'bottled poetry'. Rowan
Gormley, founder of Naked Wines, is then the bard. Growth at his
Norwich-based firm, a hybrid of wine merchant and social network,
has been astronomical. Turnover is set to leap from £10m to £20.5m
this year with over 60,000 wine enthusiasts investing £1m a month
between them to produce the most delicious, remarkable wines in the
world. Naked Wines has truly shaken up the industry, bypassing the
wine buyers completely, slashing the marketing costs of wine
growers and giving power to the consumer. Naked Wines has created
85 new wines to date. Gormley sells around 10,000 bottles of wine
every day through its online portal and sales are set to skyrocket
once more with the recent launch of the Naked Marketplace, which
allows wine-producers to pitch their wares direct to consumers.
