margarita? The past decade saw an explosion in the virtual gifts
and nudges market but never before have these little purchases been
translated into real-world gifts. ParcelGenie allows you to buy
something small for someone special. They receive a text
notification asking for a despatch address. Their little gift is
delivered. Magic. Founder John Taylor launched the venture in 2008
and began scouting for finance the following year. The first round
was oversubscribed and ParcelGenie now boasts ex-Nesta chairman Sir
Chris Powell and retail entrepreneur Les Whitfield among its
angels. The business forecasts a £0.5m turnover this year with a
40% margin on each item. No wonder Amazon is keen to launch a
co-branded version in the States...
