Joe & Seph's Popcorn
You might not usually associate the word 'gourmet' with popcorn, but this company has given the retro cinema snack a new lease of life. In the process, it has won praise from foodies and critics alike, including Masterchef's Greg Wallace and John Torrode who said they "couldn't get enough" of the treat.
Using natural ingredients only, Joe and Seph's Popcorn has proved that popcorn can be about far more than simply salty and sweet; they've created innovative, low fat flavour combinations that Willy Wonka would be proud of, including 'Goats Cheese and Black Pepper', 'Mince Pie', 'Salted Caramel' and 'Toffee Apple & Cinnamon'.
It's no surprise then that the company is doing so well, with a healthy turnover and profit; a feat made all the more impressive by the fact the company was started by just three people - a mother, father and son team - who forwent a costly marketing campaign and used social media to reach out to their influencers.
Now, with eight Gold Great Taste Awards under their belt and a new team of 12, the Sopher family plan to focus on growth in their current export markets: Spain, Portugal, Canada and The Middle East.
